Chapter 3 : The Deal

The flap of the tent rustled as one of the villagers led Arhaan inside. The dim yellow glow from a solitary lantern cast elongated shadows on the mud-soiled canvas walls. He was guided to a narrow cot with a thin, worn-out mattress. Dust clung to the air, and the silence throbbed like a heartbeat. Arhaan sat, his jaw locked tight, the weight of helplessness pressing into his chest. His mind ran wild, rifling through every possible connection, every string he could pull to stop this marriage, her marriage.
